I studied at Somerset College of Agriculture and Horticulture, Cannington for two years and then studied for three years at The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
I worked for the Parks Department of the London Borough of Croydon as their Horticultural Officer and then moved to the London Borough of Redbridge as Assistant Parks Manager, subsequently becoming their Chief Recreation Manager.

I have written for a number of publications including The English Garden magazine.
I am a judge with “Britain In Bloom”.
I am a keen photographer and have around 4000 slides and thousands of digital photographs of plants and gardens for use in my talks and lectures.
This months Poll is if you like gardening do you also enjoy cooking?
Previous polls that you can still take part in are:- Slugs and Snails and your favourite way to get rid of them!
Should ban smoking in parks and gardens?
This comes after New York banned smoking in Central Park and 1,700 other parks and beaches. I really feel we should follow this example. There is nothing worse than being in a beautiful winter garden where smell forms an important part of that experience and all you can smell is someone smoking in the background!

I love that picture of the foxes!
I know some friends who now hate foxes after their garden was ruined by fox cubs “playing” in the flower borders!
we have an old dog fox who visits regularly, and has a rather endearing squint. he is very fond of raisins.
Have alook at my new “Poll”
